Audiometry Program
The Audiometry program was established on April 22, 2020, at the Fırat University Health Services Vocational School, which started its education in 1990. The program is offered within the Health Services Vocational School, located on the Fırat University Rectorate Campus. Students receive a two-year associate degree education, divided into four semesters, with intensive theoretical and practical courses.
The language of instruction is Turkish. Students complete their practical applications at the Ear, Nose, and Throat Department of Audiology in the Fırat University Medical Faculty Hospital. By benefiting from the clinical environment within the hospital, our students have the opportunity to closely follow technological developments. The student quota for the program is 40. Our school has a strong academic structure, supported not only by its equipped faculty members but also by faculty members from other faculties and vocational schools of the university. We aim to provide an education that is competitive on both national and international levels.
The Fırat University Health Services Vocational School Audiometry Program offers full-time education, and admission to the program is possible with the TYT score type of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) organized by ÖSYM.
Full-time 1st Degree
The objectives of the Audiometry Program are to train health technicians who:
An associate degree. Upon completion of the program, students are awarded an associate degree diploma and the title of Audiometry Technician. The conditions specified in the Fırat University Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Education-Teaching and Examination Regulations are applicable.
The Audiometry Program offers full-time education, and admission to the program is possible with the TYT score type of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) organized by ÖSYM.
Graduates of this program work as health personnel in public and private health institutions and organizations under the title "Health Technician (Audiometry Technician / Audiometrist)." After graduation, students can find broad employment opportunities. They can be appointed as Health Technicians through the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS). Graduates can work in audiology clinics of public or private hospitals under the supervision and control of an audiology specialist or an otolaryngologist. They can also work in institutions for hearing-impaired children and similar organizations. They may work in obstetrics clinics performing hearing tests on newborns. They can conduct hearing screening tests in schools. Graduates can also work for hearing aid companies. With the increasing number of "Occupational Hearing Protection" programs, they can work as consultants in factories or in companies measuring environmental sound. Additionally, they can work as "Audiometry Technicians" or "Audiometrists" in companies that install and maintain audiometric devices in hospitals and clinics.
A student must pass all the courses in the program, accumulate at least 120 ECTS credits, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 to graduate.
Students who have previously studied at another higher education institution, either in Turkey or abroad, and who are enrolled in Fırat University within the first week may apply for credit and grade transfer. The relevant faculty or vocational school management board evaluates the application, and a decision is made based on the entire prior learning experience, on a one-time basis. Students who have completed secondary education or equivalent education abroad and have obtained the required score in the university entrance exam may register. Additionally, students may transfer from equivalent programs of other higher education institutions through vertical transfer. For the transfer of courses taken at another institution, the Fırat University Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Education-Teaching and Examination Regulations apply.
The program aims to train health technicians who are knowledgeable about scientific methods in diagnosing patients with hearing loss and balance disorders, capable of performing hearing and balance tests, possessing professional foreign language skills, and able to follow current developments in the field. It also aims to produce technicians who continuously develop themselves, possess verbal communication skills, and can competently apply new technological developments. The program lasts for four semesters.

Graduates of the Audiometry associate degree program can transfer to the Audiology, Special Education Teaching, Physics, Physics Engineering, and Optics and Acoustics Engineering bachelor’s programs, based on their success in the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS), within the quota announced that year.
Students must successfully complete all courses in the program, accumulate at least 120 ECTS credits, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 to graduate.
The program consists of 4 semesters. Each semester contains 30 ECTS credits, totaling 120 ECTS credits. The courses are semester-based.
